Srigim Winery stands in Srigim (Li-On), in the Elah Valley at the edge of Britannia Park. Its listing on the Mateh Yehuda tourism site tells how its owners, the neighbours Uriel Harari, a tour guide, and Moti Mordechai, an agronomist, began by making small amounts of wine for their families and friends, until the wine room grew into a winery. Uriel is the winemaker, trained by work in the winery and a wine consultant's guidance, and he uses grapes grown in the area's vineyards, of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The listing puts its output at about 3,000 bottles a year, and says its Cabernet Sauvignon Barrique took first place and a gold medal at the Eshkol HaZahav competition in 2008. Family members, customers and friends join in at the harvest and the bottling.
