Lala is a boutique hotel of 16 rooms at 78 Ben Zvi Road, about 15 minutes' walk from the flea market and the port of old Jaffa. Its site presents a picturesque historic building of the nineteenth century, restored with care for what was there: the original floor tiles, the large Jaffa arches, the kurkar stone walls and even a hook for tying horses. The name, the site says, comes from Kabbalah and stands for good sleep and dreams come true. Two of the suites open onto an orchard garden, one of them set above a well more than 200 years old. Guests find a coffee and tea corner with light refreshments, and helmets in the rooms for anyone who rents a scooter; cooking workshops are held on the grounds for a fee, when arranged ahead. Rooms are ready from 15:00, or 17:00 on Saturdays, and are left by 11:00.
