Behind Moshav Tzofar, Tzofar

A desert khan on the line of the Nabataean Incense Route behind Moshav Tzofar, with tents, huts and cabins, a heated covered pool and camels and donkeys in its petting corner.

Debbie Rabins, who grew up farming in the Arava, started the place in 2000 behind Moshav Tzofar as a base for donkey treks, and it grew into a khan as hikers asked for a place to sleep. It lies about 2 km west of the Arava road on the line of the Incense Route, with the ancient Nabataean town of Moa about 2 km to the south. Guests choose between Bedouin tents for groups, small and large huts, desert cabins, a glamping hut and a camping area, and share a kitchen, campfire corners and a heated covered pool. A desert breakfast is included, a Bedouin dinner on a shared tray can be booked ahead, and the petting corner keeps camels, donkeys, dwarf goats and rabbits.
