A family distillery at the edge of Moshav Tzofar that makes arak and other spirits from Arava dates, with tours of its copper stills.
Its site tells how a family on Moshav Tzofar, after years in farming, education and guiding, saw how many Arava dates are rejected and thrown away and opened a boutique distillery that makes all its alcohol from them. Its copper still was made in Portugal, and its first flagship drink, Arak Amiti, is named after the family's first grandson, born the week the still arrived. The distillery sits at the edge of the moshav, two minutes' walk from a viewpoint over the desert, with seating corners and a petting corner for visitors. A tour of the stills with a tasting takes half an hour to an hour and costs 50 shekels a person; a longer tour that starts in the date groves costs 75 shekels.
