Kibbutz Tzora, Tzora

A winery on Kibbutz Tzora in the Judean Hills that makes its wines only from its own vineyards, with a tasting room open by appointment

Tzora Vineyards makes its wines only from grapes grown in its own vineyards and names them after where they grow: Judean Hills red and white, Shoresh red and white from ancient terraces beside Moshav Shoresh, and the flagship Misty Hills from a single plot. Its winemaker and general manager is Eran Pick, a Master of Wine since 2016, who joined in 2006, and its vineyard manager has been with the winery since it was founded in 1993. The tasting room at the kibbutz holds a seated guided tasting of four current wines with artisan cheeses, bread and olive oil, for 125 shekels a person and up to an hour, in Hebrew, English or Russian, and a private room for small groups that can be hired for a full day. Its listing on the council's tourism site adds that it has worked since 2010 with the consultant Jean-Claude Berrouet, formerly chief winemaker at Pétrus in Bordeaux.
