Sugarela is a boutique cake-design studio at 12 Tsofit Street in Yad Binyamin. Its founder writes on its site that she combined a lifelong love of baking with years of sculpture, painting, paper cutting and embroidery, took courses in sugar paste, and turned the hobby into a home studio for designed cakes and sweets for events. Every cake is made to order and covered and decorated by hand in rolled fondant, with figures, sugar flowers, ribbons and lace, in flavours such as chocolate, vanilla, orange, nut, coffee, lemon, carrot and mocha, without preservatives. Its site gives sample prices: a standard cake of about 25 to 35 servings from 550 shekels, a two-tier bat mitzvah cake of about 60 to 70 servings from 850 and a three-tier wedding cake of about 100 servings from 2,000, with delivery to the Shfela, Jerusalem and the centre for 90 to 200 shekels. The studio also makes sweet bars, decorated cupcakes and cookies and cake pops, and runs sugar-paste workshops of one to two hours for birthdays, class parties and bat mitzvahs, at the studio or at the customer's place.
