Nine people were injured early in the morning when a minibus overturned on Route 353 close to Sarigim, in the Beit Shemesh area west of Jerusalem. According to Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service, its Jerusalem region dispatch centre received the call at 06:03 reporting a minibus that had flipped onto its side.
Magen David Adom said its medics and paramedics treated the injured at the scene and evacuated all nine to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital. Among them was a man described as being about 30 years old, in serious condition, and an 18-year-old in moderate condition with injuries affecting several body systems. The remaining seven were listed as lightly injured. The Jerusalem Post and Ynet's alerts service carried the same overall count of nine injured, one of them seriously.

What the responders described
N12, the news service of Israel's Channel 12, carried an account from Yosef Horowitz, a Magen David Adom medic who attended the scene. He said that when the team arrived, the minibus was lying on its side and the passengers were all near the vehicle. He added that the seriously injured man received treatment on site that included sedation and assisted breathing, a level of intervention typically given when a patient cannot safely breathe unaided.
The Magen David Adom statement as published appears to be cut off when describing the seriously injured man's injury, so the nature of his trauma was not specified in that report. The 18-year-old was described as having multi-system trauma, meaning injuries to more than one part or system of the body.
Who Magen David Adom is
Magen David Adom, often abbreviated MDA, is Israel's emergency medical, ambulance and blood service, and the country's member society in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It operates regional dispatch centres reached by dialling 101, the national number for medical emergencies, and its spokesperson's office issues brief updates on incidents such as road crashes, often within minutes. Those statements are commonly the first official source for casualty figures, and Israeli news outlets frequently build their early reports on them.
How injury severity is reported in Israel
Israeli emergency services classify casualties using a standard scale: light, moderate, serious and critical. A serious classification indicates injuries that may threaten life or cause lasting harm, while moderate injuries are significant but not considered immediately life-threatening. These categories reflect the assessment of paramedics at the scene or on arrival at hospital and can change as patients are examined further.
The location and the hospital
Beit Shemesh is a city in the hills between Jerusalem and the coastal plain, and Sarigim is a small community in the same area. Route 353 runs through this district. Hadassah Ein Kerem, where all nine casualties were taken, is one of the main hospitals in Jerusalem and serves as a major trauma centre for the surrounding region, which explains why patients from the Beit Shemesh area are often brought there.
Where the reports differ
The reports agree on the number of injured, the vehicle involved and the breakdown of one serious, one moderate and seven light injuries. They differ slightly on the age of the seriously injured man. Magen David Adom and N12 describe him as about 30, while The Jerusalem Post describes him as a man in his 30s. The reports also place the crash differently in terms of emphasis: Ynet and The Jerusalem Post refer only to the Beit Shemesh area, while Magen David Adom identifies the spot as Route 353 near Sarigim, and N12 mentions both.
What the reports do not say
None of the reports explains what caused the minibus to overturn, whether any other vehicle was involved, or what the road and weather conditions were at the time. They do not say who the passengers were, where the minibus was travelling from or to, or whether the driver was among those hurt. No report mentions a police investigation, and none gives an update on the condition of the injured after they reached hospital. The names of the injured were not released.
