A 16-year-old girl was injured in an agricultural area close to Mount Avital in northern Israel and was taken to hospital in moderate condition, according to Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national emergency medical service. MDA said its 101 emergency call centre in the service's Yarden region received the report at 09:23.
MDA medics and paramedics treated the teenager at the scene and were evacuating her to Rambam hospital, the emergency service said. In its statement, MDA described her injuries as trauma to the limbs. The service did not say how she was hurt.
On the ground
Israeli military forces are advancing into a former military site in the Quneitra countryside within the occupied Golan Heights in southwestern Syria, according to our correspondent on the ground. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.news/1r01le
Where Mount Avital is
Mount Avital is a peak in the northern Golan Heights, the plateau in Israel's far north that overlooks the Hula Valley and the Sea of Galilee and borders Syria. The mountain is one of a chain of extinct volcanic cones that rise from the plateau, and the land around it includes open grazing ground and cultivated fields worked by nearby communities. The material does not identify which community, if any, the agricultural area belongs to.
MDA organises its dispatch and ambulance services by region. The Yarden region named in the statement takes its name from the Jordan River, and is the regional division responsible for calls in this part of the north.
Who responded
Magen David Adom, whose name means "Red Shield of David", is Israel's equivalent of a national ambulance and paramedic service and is the country's member society in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Members of the public reach it by dialling 101, the emergency number for medical calls in Israel. MDA's crews range from volunteer and professional medics, who provide basic life support, to paramedics, who are trained to give advanced care. The statement says both kinds of responder were involved in treating the girl.
MDA routinely publishes brief bulletins on incidents it attends, usually through its spokesperson's office and its Telegram channel. These bulletins generally give the time the call came in, the location, the age and sex of the patient, the injuries observed and the hospital to which the patient is being taken. They rarely go into the circumstances, which are typically left to the police or other authorities to establish.
The hospital and the condition grading
Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa is the largest hospital in northern Israel and serves as a major referral and trauma centre for the region, including the Golan Heights. Patients with injuries from across the north are often transferred there.
Israeli emergency services describe a patient's condition using a standard scale: light, moderate, serious and critical. A "moderate" grading indicates injuries that need hospital treatment but that crews do not consider immediately life-threatening at the time of assessment. Conditions can change after a patient reaches hospital, and the grading in an MDA bulletin reflects the picture at the scene.
What the report does not say
The only account of this incident in the material is MDA's short bulletin, and it leaves several questions open:
- The cause of the injury. MDA did not say whether the girl was hurt in a fall, an accident involving farm machinery or a vehicle, or some other incident.
- Her identity and circumstances. The statement gives only her age and sex, not where she lives or why she was in the area.
- Others involved. MDA did not say whether anyone else was injured or present.
- Any investigation. There is no mention of police or other authorities attending.
- Her condition after arrival. No update from Rambam or MDA appears in the material.
This article will not speculate on any of these points. Readers should treat the account as provisional until further information is published by MDA, the hospital or the authorities.

How we checked this
This account is based on a single statement from Magen David Adom's spokesperson; no other organisation's report was available, so all details of the incident are attributed to MDA alone. Background on places and institutions is general context, not part of MDA's report.
The account of the incident itself rests on the official statement and has not been independently confirmed by Israel.com. Where the statement is silent, this page says so rather than filling the gap.
