A man aged about 40 was seriously injured in Givat Hen, a community in the Sharon region of central Israel, and was taken to hospital with penetrating wounds, according to Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service. The service said its Yarkon region dispatch centre received a call through its 101 emergency line at 23:31 reporting that a man had been hurt in Givat Hen. Its emergency medical technicians and paramedics gave him treatment at the scene before taking him to Meir hospital.

The Israeli news outlet N12 reported that the man had been stabbed, and that he was in serious condition when Magen David Adom crews evacuated him. Both reports describe his injuries as penetrating wounds and give his age as around 40. Neither report names him.

Who reported the incident

Magen David Adom, often shortened to MDA, is Israel's national ambulance and emergency medical organisation, broadly equivalent to the Red Cross services in other countries. It runs regional dispatch centres that receive calls made to 101, the country's emergency number for medical help. The Yarkon region named in its statement is one of those operational areas and covers part of central Israel. MDA statements of this kind are typically brief and focus on the medical picture: what crews found, what treatment they gave and where the patient was taken. They do not usually address the cause of an incident or any police investigation.

N12 is the news arm of Israel's Channel 12, one of the country's main commercial television broadcasters. Its report appeared on its rolling news channel, which publishes short updates as events unfold.

Where Givat Hen is

Givat Hen is a small agricultural community, known in Israel as a moshav, in the Sharon. The Sharon is the coastal plain north of Tel Aviv, a densely populated part of the country that includes several mid-sized cities alongside smaller towns and villages. N12 placed Givat Hen in the Sharon in its report. The community sits close to the city of Ra'anana.

Meir hospital, formally Meir Medical Center, is a major public hospital in Kfar Saba, a city in the same area. It is one of the main trauma destinations for emergency patients from the surrounding communities.

What the medical terms mean

Israeli emergency services classify patients by severity. "Serious" is a formal category used by MDA and hospitals, and it indicates a significant injury requiring urgent hospital care. It sits below "critical" and above "moderate" in the scale commonly used in Israeli medical reporting.

"Penetrating wounds" is the term MDA uses for injuries in which an object has broken the skin and entered the body. It covers stab wounds and gunshot wounds, among other causes. MDA's own statement uses this medical description and does not itself say how the man was hurt. The specific reference to a stabbing comes from N12's report.

A note on the two accounts

The two reports agree on the man's approximate age, the location, the seriousness of his condition, the nature of his wounds and the hospital he was taken to. The only difference is one of detail rather than contradiction: MDA describes a man who was injured and had penetrating wounds, while N12 states that he was stabbed. N12's report appeared shortly after MDA's statement and also credits MDA crews with treating and evacuating the patient.

What the reports do not say

Neither report identifies the injured man or gives any detail about him beyond his approximate age. Neither says who carried out the attack, whether anyone has been detained, or whether police have opened an investigation. There is no information on a possible motive, on the circumstances that led to the injury, or on whether the incident is being treated as criminal or as security related. The reports do not say exactly where in Givat Hen the man was found, whether anyone else was involved or hurt, or whether a weapon was recovered. No update on the man's condition after he reached hospital appears in the material. Israel.com will report further details only when they are published by the organisations involved.

How we checked this

The injury, the man's approximate age, his serious condition and his evacuation to Meir hospital were reported by both Magen David Adom and N12. The description of the incident as a stabbing comes from N12; MDA's statement refers only to penetrating wounds.

The account of the incident itself rests on the official statement and has not been independently confirmed by Israel.com. Where the statement is silent, this page says so rather than filling the gap.
