Tamir Grinberg turned down HaKokhav HaBa for years, then won it in 2021

Tamir Grinberg was born in Tel Aviv in 1994 and studied at the Thelma Yellin arts high school. At 15 he formed Tamir Grinberg and his band, an eight-piece group that played the songs he wrote, and he was later awarded a Sharett Foundation jazz scholarship and a scholarship for four years of study at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

His debut EP, Inwaters, came out in 2017. In 2021, after years of turning the show down, he won the eighth season of HaKokhav HaBa on Keshet 12 and set out on a tour of amphitheatres and concert halls across Israel.

The singles Better, Into the Night, Changes and Roses followed. He played the Caesarea amphitheatre and a joint show with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 2023, and in 2025 he released his debut album, A Knight's Tale: 18 songs he wrote and composed.
