Rotem Cohen wrote hits for Eyal Golan before he stepped up to sing his own
Rotem Cohen was born in 1980 and grew up in Lod. The Latin music he heard at home, from Julio Iglesias to Enrico Macias, shaped his style. After serving in the Home Front Command band he studied for a year at the Nissan Nativ acting school, then left to write and compose songs.
He began as a songwriter for others, writing for Eyal Golan, Shlomi Shabat, Boaz Sharabi, Dana Berger and Omer Adam, and won ACUM's song of the year award for 2012 with Kshe'acher, which he composed for Golan. In 2013 his first single as a singer, El HaOlam Shelach, became a hit on radio and YouTube, and the album of the same name (2014) went gold.
Lo Dimyanti (2015) went gold too, with Akut Sheri, a duet with Maggie Azarzar that reached number one on Media Forest's weekly chart. In 2017 he released Kol Kach Yafe Lach, a bolero with Descemer Bueno, and a Hebrew version of Subeme La Radio with Enrique Iglesias. His fifth album, HaBen Shel Nurit, came out in February 2026, and that year he was chosen to co-host the Independence Day torch-lighting ceremony on Mount Herzl with Mali Levi.
