The dining room of Kibbutz Eilot, at the northern entrance to Eilat, open to the public as a buffet restaurant and known for its Friday ready-food fair and its Friday-night dinner
Capot Tmarim began in 1985 as the dining room of Kibbutz Eilot and still serves the kibbutz's members; its site says the name came from the kibbutz's date groves. From Sunday to Thursday it serves a kibbutz-style buffet breakfast, with a salad bar, cheeses, smoked fish, an omelette station, pancakes and shakshuka, and a buffet lunch whose menu changes daily: soup, home-made salads, a fish, chicken, meat or vegan main and hot sides. On Friday mornings it turns into a ready-food fair of more than 120 dishes to take home, from salads and sides to fish, chicken, meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes, sushi and pastries baked on the spot. On Friday night it serves a buffet dinner at the long tables of the kibbutz dining room, laid with white tablecloths, with about 20 home-made salads, a children's buffet and a dessert station, and a kiddush set for the table on request. It also caters private and business events; the regional council's tourism site says it seats about 400.
