A family-run Chinese restaurant at the same address on Derekh Yafo since 1984, with dumplings folded by hand every morning

Yan Yan is a Chinese restaurant at 26 Derekh Yafo in downtown Haifa. Its site says the Wong family opened it in 1984, when a Chinese restaurant was a rare thing in Israel, to serve the food the family eats at home, and that the founders' second generation runs it today at the same address. The dumplings are still folded by hand every morning, the rice is fried in a wok over a high flame, the soups stand on the fire for hours, and some ingredients are imported directly from China. The menu runs from spring rolls and steamed dim sum through soups, noodles and fried rice to chicken, beef and fish in traditional sauces, with many vegetarian and vegan dishes and business meals all day. It delivers in Haifa and hosts events for up to 100 people.
