Khan Nahal Arava

Guest house

Derech HaShalom (the Peace Road), Moshav Hatzeva, Hatzeva

A quiet khan on the Peace Road between Moshav Hatzeva and Nahal Arava: a large tent camp with a kitchen, a wide yard and a view of the mountains of Edom.

Khan Nahal Arava is a large compound for sleeping in the desert by Moshav Hatzeva, on the Peace Road that runs along the Arava. Its entry on the council's business board says the khan was built with care for guests' comfort and for the landscape around it. Guests sleep in a large tent camp with mattresses, mats and night lighting; beside it are a bathroom and a kitchen equipped with fridges, burners and a barbecue stand. The yard outside is wide, ringed with ornamental trees, and has seating corners, picnic tables, a half-barrel for a campfire and lookout points over the mountains of Edom and of Jordan. It takes couples, families and groups of friends or hikers. The Peace Road is a starting point for walks and bicycle rides, and for jeep and all-terrain-vehicle trips, and the hosts recommend what to do nearby.
