The Dan group's flagship on King David Street, a landmark hotel that looks over the walls of the Old City.

The King David is the flagship of the Dan Hotels group and a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. Its page says the hotel was built in 1929, has played a part in the history of Jerusalem and of Israel, and has hosted world leaders, artists and celebrities. It stands on King David Street, looking over the walls, minarets and domes of the Old City, which is a 15-minute walk away, and the light rail stops close by. Inside are stately public rooms in the style of an earlier era, with guest rooms, suites and public areas that were recently renovated. Guests eat at the Solima Restaurant and Terrace and at the Grill Room, a steakhouse, and drink at the Oriental Bar. Pets are welcome under the group's policy, and the hotel is kosher, on the Jerusalem religious council's list.
