Miles Winery is a small family winery in Moshav Kerem Ben Zimra, opened in 2001 by Ayal Miles, who grew up in a farming family on the moshav, and run with Amalia and their children. Its first vines, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, were planted in 1984 on shallow basalt soil on the Dalton plateau, partly on the remains of an orchard planted in 1977, and later plantings added Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Gewürztraminer and Shiraz, all at about 870 metres. The grapes are picked by hand before sunrise, and the wine ages in French and American oak barrels and then for three months to a year in the bottle. Tastings at the winery offer five wines chosen by the winemaker, or a glass or a bottle of your choice, and a platter for two of local Circassian cheese, organic olive oil from olives the family picks, and bread can be added.
