A boutique winery in an old stone building in Moshav Kerem Ben Zimra, run by winemaker Yossi Ashkenazi, with tastings facing the vineyards

Ya Winery works out of a stone building more than 80 years old in the heart of Moshav Kerem Ben Zimra, beside its vineyards. It was founded by Yossi Ashkenazi, a winemaker since 2003 and the grandson of the moshav's founder Binyamin Ashkenazi, who first set up Ben Zimra Winery; his own vineyards, planted in the 1990s on the northern slopes of the Meron range at 870 metres, are picked by hand in the early morning, and the winery makes about 35,000 bottles a year. Visitors can taste three wines for 40 shekels or four for 50 and order alongside a Margherita pizza, a cheese plate with the house bread, bread with dips, a Greek salad or the quiche of the day, and the winery hosts private events with dairy or meat menus. On Fridays it holds a Kabbalat Shabbat of boutique wine, cheeses from Galilee dairies and music facing the vineyards.

On Friday its contact page says it opens at 09:00 and stays open until an hour before Shabbat begins, a time that moves with the season; it is closed on Saturdays and holidays. Its home page gives seasonal hours instead: 09:00 to 17:00 in summer and 09:00 to 15:00 in winter.
