In the middle of Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot, Lohamei HaGeta'ot

The working dining hall of the kibbutz founded by Holocaust survivors, serving a kosher lunch buffet to members, local workers and visitors

The dining hall of Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot was founded in 1949 by the kibbutz's founders, Holocaust survivors, ghetto fighters and partisans, and the present building was designed by the architect Shmuel Mestechkin, one of the leading architects of the kibbutz movement, in the modernist, functional style of kibbutz halls. Unlike many kibbutzim that closed their dining halls, the kibbutz's tourism site says, this one still works: it serves a hot lunch every weekday to members, people who work nearby and visitors from outside. The kitchen is kosher, with a self-service buffet of meat and vegetarian dishes, salads and desserts, and the menu changes daily; on Sunday 4 October 2026 it had roast chicken legs, beef meatballs in tomato sauce, stuffed peppers, chicken schnitzel and baked hake. Groups can book lunch ahead, and the Ghetto Fighters' House museum stands nearby.
