Habokrim (the Cowboys) is the meat restaurant of Kibbutz Merom Golan, beside the kibbutz's holiday village at the foot of Mount Bental. Its page tells how, in the winter of 1989, the kibbutz's cowboys came home from the Golan grazing lands with the herds, sat together round a campfire grilling steaks and finishing with a good beer, and how the meal became a tradition that drew residents and guests until the fire became a kitchen and the mats a restaurant. Its booking page calls it a chef's restaurant specialising in quality meat, in an authentic cowboy atmosphere. It is kosher under the Golan Heights religious council, and opens for lunch and dinner from Sunday to Thursday and at midday on Friday; tables are booked online.
