Avazi is a kosher meat restaurant at 54 Etzel Street in Tel Aviv's HaTikva quarter, founded in 1970. Its site traces it to the 1960s, when the neighbours met every evening on one family's lawn: the host brought fresh cuts from the local butcher, Moroccan salads came from one neighbour's kitchen and Iraqi pitas from another's taboon. It says the salads are made every day from fresh vegetables, and the meats are chosen daily and aged under a food technologist's supervision. It opens from Sunday to Thursday, at midday on Friday and again on Saturday night, half an hour after Shabbat ends, and it also delivers.
