Pepo Brewery and Navot Winery

49 HaTe'ena Street, Moshav Tzelafon, Tzelafon

A family boutique winery and kosher microbrewery on HaTe'ena Street in Moshav Tzelafon, whose visitor centre opens to the public on Fridays with a dairy meal among the vines

Navot Winery is the dream of Moti Bohadana, a vine grower and winemaker who planted a vineyard when he came to Moshav Tzelafon and founded the winery in 2003, learning from his own trials, from courses and above all from the work in the vineyard; the whole family joins the hand harvest. It makes about 3,000 bottles a year from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged a year to a year and a half in oak barrels, along with other wines and drinks from grapes and seasonal fruit. Beside it, Pepo is a kosher boutique brewery that brews about eight beers the traditional way, by cooking grain in small batches, and names each beer after a woman. The visitor centre takes groups during the week by arrangement and opens to the public on Fridays, when it serves the wines and beers made on the spot with a dairy meal in the vineyard: cheeses, breads, shakshuka, salads, focaccias with cheese and herbs, soups and pastries, mostly from the farm or the area. The winery also hosts events of up to 50 people.
