Eight couples' suites with heated private plunge pools on the desert's edge at Tzukim, built of earth bricks, palm fronds and wood.
Zman Arava grew out of a two-wheeled journey its founder made more than 20 years ago through the world's deserts along latitude 32, from the Sonoran desert in Mexico to the Sahara and back to the Arava. Its eight suites, all for couples, each have a heated private plunge pool and a hammam-style bathroom, and are built of earth bricks, palm fronds and wood together with energy-saving construction, with art made from recycled materials by members of the Tzukim artists' village. Paths through a fruit orchard lead from the suites to the centre of the village, and a large hall called Kulna, with a half circle of panoramic windows, hosts workshops, groups and events. Breakfasts follow the Galilee recipes of Lucia, the host's mother, with Arava vegetables.

Suites I, III and IV: on the desert's front line facing the Nahal Ashosh reserve and an old acacia, each with a private plunge pool, divided inside by a low wall of local earth bricks; a third guest by arrangement.
Hamada suite

Suite II: a two-level suite on a small ridge of original hamada ground, with a heated plunge pool in an inner patio.
Stars terrace suite
4 rooms
Suites V to VIII: large terraces with a heated plunge pool facing the meeting of the Ashosh and Tzofar streams, an outdoor kitchen with a professional grill and a star deck with wooden loungers.
Every suite has a hammam-style bathroom for two; the minimum stay is two nights, with a single night by phone when a suite is free.
