A plate number is enough to see a car's model, year, colour, fuel and test dates in the Ministry of Transport's register.
The register lists 4,197,986 private and commercial vehicles, as read on 31 October 2026. It names the kind of owner a car has, never the owner.
Seven or eight digits, with or without dashes.
The lookup shows what the Ministry publishes about a car, and nothing about who owns it.
What the lookup shows
- The make and model, the year it was made and its trim level.
- The colour, the fuel and the size of its tyres.
- The kind of owner: private, company, leasing, rental or dealer.
- The month the car first went on the road.
- The date of its last yearly test and the date its licence is valid until.
- The pollution group, from 1 to 15, and the safety equipment level, from 1 to 8.
What the register does not hold
- The name, ID number or address of the owner.
- The chassis number.
- Accidents, kilometres driven or service history.
- What the car is worth.
The page looks a plate up in the Ministry of Transport's register as it stood on 31 October 2026.
- The Ministry of Transport publishes every private and commercial vehicle on Israel's roads as open data.
- Each vehicle is listed under its plate number of seven or eight digits, and a plate typed with dashes, with spaces or with neither is the same plate.
- The register changes as cars are tested, sold and taken off the road, so a test or a renewal made after 31 October 2026 may not show yet.
These are the most common models on Israel's roads.
People ask these questions about checking a car by its plate number.
How can I check a car by its plate number?
Type the car's plate number into the box above, seven or eight digits with or without dashes, and press the button. The page shows the model, year, colour, fuel, last yearly test and the date the licence is valid until.
Can I see who owns a car from its plate number?
No. The Ministry of Transport's register does not publish owners' names or ID numbers. It says only what kind of owner a car has: a private owner, a company, a leasing company, a car rental company or a dealer.
What does it mean when a plate number is not found?
The register read on 31 October 2026 has no vehicle with that plate number. Check the digits first. A car that left the road after that day, or a kind of vehicle the register does not cover, may not be listed.
How current is the information about a car?
The page shows the register as it stood on 31 October 2026. A yearly test passed or a licence renewed after that day may not show yet.
What is a car's pollution group?
The Ministry sorts every vehicle into one of 15 pollution groups, from 1 for the cleanest to 15 for the most polluting.
Is the colour shown the maker's paint?
No. The register names a colour in a few words, and the swatch beside it is a guide, not a measurement of the paint.
