These are the questions people ask about English words in Hebrew.
Where do the translations come from?
They are adapted from Wiktionary, a free dictionary written by its readers, as it stood on 5 November 2026: each English word's table of translations, and the entries for the Hebrew words for their vowel points, gender and plural. Senses the dictionary marks as offensive or out of use are left out.
Why is each Hebrew word shown twice?
The vowel points show how a word is said. Everyday Hebrew is written without them, so each word is shown with its vowel points and as it is usually written.
What does the accent in a transliteration mean?
It marks the stressed vowel. Most Hebrew words are stressed on the last syllable, and the accent shows where a word is not.
Where are the recordings from?
They are recordings of native speakers on Wikimedia Commons, under free licences, and each page names its speaker. A recording is shown only where no other Hebrew word is written the same way.
