This Hebrew dictionary explains 13,552 words, with their English meaning, synonyms and rhymes.

Each word has a page with its definitions, how it is said, its root and plural, words of the same and the opposite meaning, words that rhyme with it and its translation into English and other languages.

These are the 40 words other entries of the dictionary point to most.

Every word is listed under its first letter.

These are the questions people ask about the Hebrew dictionary.

Where do the words and their definitions come from?

They are adapted from the Hebrew Wiktionary, a free dictionary written by its readers, as it stood on 1 November 2026. Of its 27,165 entries, the 13,552 words that give a pronunciation, a definition and an English meaning or related words have a page here; names and prefixes are left out.

Why does each word appear twice, with and without vowel points?

The vowel points show how a word is said. Everyday Hebrew is written without them, often with an extra vav or yod in their place, so each page shows the word both ways.

Which words count as rhymes?

Two words are listed as rhymes when they sound the same from the stressed syllable to the end, as their pronunciations are written. Only single words with a page here are listed.

How is a word's gematria worked out?

Each letter stands for a number, from 1 for alef to 400 for tav, and the gematria of a word is the sum of its letters as written without vowel points. A final letter counts the same as its ordinary form.
