Alex Dan

Alex Dan was born in 1962

Alex Dan was born in 1962. He grew up in Moshav Yad Natan in the Lachish region.

He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and management from Tel Aviv University and a master's degree in social sciences from the University of Haifa. He graduated from the IDF Command and Staff College and the National Security College. He earned a doctorate from the Technion, researching physiological measures and cognitive load in learning.

He joined the Air Force in 1980 and served as a helicopter navigator and later as a helicopter pilot. He commanded Squadrons 123 and 124 and took part in hundreds of operations. He later headed an intelligence department for operations in the Air Intelligence Group.

After his discharge he worked at Elbit Systems, where he founded and led an ISTAR directorate in the UAV division. In 2011 he became the first CEO of Arei Hinuch, and in 2015 he joined Israel Railways, becoming deputy CEO in November 2019. From July 2021 to February 2023 he was director general of the Ministry of Intelligence.

In August 2023 he became a senior researcher at the Elrom Center at Tel Aviv University. In November 2024 he joined the board of Ayalon Highways. He is married and has one son.
