Alexander Schwarzman

Alexander Schwarzman is a draughts grandmaster born in Moscow, a world champion in international and Brazilian draughts who represents the Israeli Draughts Federation.

Alexander Schwarzman was born in 1967 in Moscow

Alexander Mikhailovich Schwarzman was born on 18 September 1967 in Moscow. He became an international grandmaster in international draughts, Russian draughts and Brazilian draughts.

He won the world title in international draughts in 1998, 2007, 2009, 2017 and 2021. He also won the world title in Brazilian draughts in 1987, 1989, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2008 and 2018. He was European champion in 2002.

In Russia he won the national title in Russian draughts and in international draughts several times. He also won the Bijlmer Tournament in 1997, 1998 and 2006.

His play is noted for positional sacrifices and games built on encirclement. He is the only grandmaster in all three of these forms of draughts. He represents the Israeli Draughts Federation.
