The story of Asaf Berg's life

Asaf Berg was born in 1936 on Kibbutz Givat Brenner. After a split in the kibbutz movement, his family moved to Kibbutz Netzer Sereni. He lived and worked there until his death in 1997.

During his army service in the Paratroopers Brigade, he designed symbols and badges for the brigade. Some of them are still in use. After his discharge he studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem.

His designs used strong colors. He created official Independence Day posters, including those for 1973, 1979 and 1989, and designed stamps and coins for the state. These included a 1988 stamp for Israel's 40th year and a set of 4 coins called Art in Israel in 1986.

He also painted in oil and acrylic and showed his work in exhibitions across the country. At the same time he worked in citrus groves and field crops. Nature and the kibbutz landscape appear in many of his works.
