Asher Tlalim was born in 1950 in Tangier

Tlalim was born in Tangier in 1950 as Mesod Bentolila, to Ester and Jacob Bentolila. The family moved to Malaga, Spain, and came to Israel in 1960, where he took the name Asher. They settled in Bnei Brak, and he studied at a religious high school.
