Avraham Sinai was born in 1962 in Lebanon

Sinai was born Ibrahim Yassin in a Shia village in Lebanon. During the Lebanese Civil War his family was linked to the South Lebanon Army.

In 1982, during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the IDF helped his wife while she was giving birth and flew her to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. He then began passing information to Israel. Hezbollah captured him, and by his account he was questioned and tortured, and his infant son was killed in front of him.

He was released in 1986 and became more active as an agent inside Hezbollah. For about 10 years he met Israeli handlers at the border, and his main handler was Yoav Mordechai.

In 1997 he was brought to Israel and settled with his family in Safed. After attending Yom Kippur prayers in 2000, he decided to convert, with the support of Safed's chief rabbi, Shmuel Eliyahu. He later became a rabbi and wrote a book about his life.

He is married to Ziva and they have 7 children. His sons served in the IDF, and in 2016 his son Amos of the Golani Brigade received the President's Award of Excellence.
