Dana Berger was born in 1970 in Haifa

Dana Berger was born on 2 November 1970 in the Nave Sha'anan neighborhood of Haifa and grew up in Jerusalem. Her parents are Aviva Berger, an educator and sculptor, and Yehoshua Berger. She began piano at age 7, later took up guitar, and started writing songs at 14.

In 1987 she joined the band O Ban, which put out two songs, one against air pollution and one against the police. She left the band when she was drafted into the IDF and served in the Nahal troupe.

After her service she studied at the Rimon School of Music and sang lead in the band Blagan with Dan Toren. The band split in 1992 after its only album. That year she began acting in the TV series Inyan Shel Zman and sang at the 1992 Festigal.

Her self-titled debut album came out in October 1994, with much of the material written and composed by her. She later released the album Ad Ha'Katze, which was certified platinum. She was named Female Singer of the Year for 2000 and 2003.
