Frenkel was born on September 8, 1987, and grew up in Tel Aviv. Her mother, Shoshana, is a physical education teacher, and her father, Yosef Aharon Frenkel, was a journalist. As a child and teenager she trained in ballet with the Bat-Dor Dance Company.

During her army service she worked as a guide at Yad Vashem. Coach Anatoly Shafran, who had seen her jump in a high school event at 14, persuaded her to compete. She left dance at 19 and began training with him at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In 2010 she won the Israeli championship with a national record of 1.91 meters. At the European Championships in Barcelona she set a record of 1.92 meters and became the first Israeli woman to reach the high jump final. In 2011 she jumped 1.94 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Paris and finished fourth.

A knee injury in December 2011 kept her out of the London Olympics. After tearing a knee ligament and having 2 surgeries, she switched her takeoff leg from left to right. In 2021 she placed seventh at the Balkan Championships with 1.86 meters.

She holds degrees in law and business administration from the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya and became a lawyer in 2019. She married Oded Breiner in 2017 and became a mother in 2022.
