David Broza was born in Haifa in 1955. His father, Arthur Broza, was a British businessman, and his mother was the singer Sharona Aron. His grandfather Wellesley Aron was a co-founder of Neve Shalom and the Habonim youth movement.
At 12 he moved with his family to Spain, where Spanish music and culture shaped him. He studied at Runnymede College in Madrid and later at Carmel College in England. As a teen he planned to be a graphic artist and sold paintings at a Madrid flea market.
In 1974 he returned to Israel and joined the IDF, first as a facility guard, later in the Air Force entertainment troupe. He began his solo career after his release, and his song "Yihye Tov" with Yehonatan Geffen became a hit. His debut album came out in 1979, and he took part in the children's album "The Sixteenth Sheep".
He later worked with international artists. In 2010 he released an album of unpublished poems by Townes Van Zandt set to music. In 2014 he released "East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem", recorded with Israeli and Palestinian musicians.
He is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and received the Shulamit Aloni Prize in 2022. That year he began singing at Temple Emanuel in New York and released the album "Tefila". He lives in Tel Aviv.
