Eitan Herzel was born in 1968 in Sa'ad

Eitan Herzel was born on 12 January 1968 and grew up in Kibbutz Sa'ad. His father, Chaim Herzel, was a Holocaust survivor, a Talmud teacher and a Bnei Akiva member. His mother, Deborah Herzel, was an educator on the kibbutz.

He attended Kvutzat Yavne High School and joined the IDF in 1986, serving as a fighter in Sayeret Matkal. He then earned a physics degree with a focus on electro-optics at Hadassah Academic College. He went on to hold management roles at KLA.

In January 2023 he formed a team to protest the judicial reform and called on reservists to join. He led protests in front of Knesset members and the prime minister. He was arrested in June 2023 and released by a court that called the arrest arbitrary, and a May 2024 arrest ended with the case closed without charges.

After the Hamas attack in 2023, he and Dror Erez set up the Beit Kama Command, which evacuated thousands of residents and supplied meals and equipment. In November 2023 he helped set up psychological aid for evacuees in Eilat. He is married with 3 children and lives in the Jezreel Valley.
