Kais Nashef was born on June 12, 1978, in Tayibe, Israel. His mother is a German Christian and his father is an Arab Muslim.
He studied acting at the Beit Zvi Institute of Performing Arts in Ramat Gan.
Nashef played the lead role in Paradise Now, a film about two would-be suicide bombers in the West Bank. In 2018, he received the actor award at the Venice Film Festival for his lead role in Tel Aviv on Fire.
He lives in Berlin. He was married to the director Maysaloun Hamoud's colleague Lara Shahd Zoabi, a film director, and they divorced.
