Kehat Shorr was born in Romania in 1919 to Elka and Michael. He took up shooting at a young age, became an expert marksman and won the Romanian championship several times. He also coached the Romanian team at several Olympic Games.
During World War II he carried out raids into Romanian cities to rescue Jews who were hiding there.
In September 1963 he moved to Israel and settled in Neve Sharet in Tel Aviv with his wife Sarah and their daughter Michal. He worked at the Ministry of Education and joined the Hapoel Tel Aviv shooting team. He soon became the national coach, training young Israeli shooters and the teams for the Asian Games in Bangkok and the Munich Olympics.
On 5 September 1972, Black September members broke into the Israeli quarters and took him hostage with other team members. He was photographed at a window next to coach Andre Spitzer. He was killed with the other hostages during a failed German rescue attempt at the airport and was buried in Kiryat Shaul Cemetery in Tel Aviv.
In 2004 his daughter, Michal Shahar, lit a torch on Israel's 56th Independence Day. Actor David Feldman played him in the film Munich directed by Steven Spielberg.
