Menachem Cohen was born in 1922 in Jerusalem
Menachem Cohen was born in Jerusalem in 1922, during the Mandate era. He was active in the Working Youth movement. He helped organize illegal Jewish immigration of children and youth from Syria.
In the mid 1940s he began working in Mapai institutions. He directed the Neighborhoods Department of the Tel Aviv Workers Council. He represented the neighborhoods, in particular the Hatikva Quarter, on Tel Aviv City Council, which he joined in June 1952.
He ran on the Mapai list in 1949 but did not win a seat. He entered the Knesset on 19 May 1951 in place of David Remez, who had died, and lost his seat in the July 1951 elections. He also set up a public action committee to rescue Yossele Schumacher.
He returned to the Knesset after the 1959 elections and was re-elected in 1961. In 1965 and 1969 he was elected on the Alignment list. He lost his seat in the 1973 elections and died in 1975.
