Miri Aloni was born in 1949 in Givatayim

Aloni was born in Givatayim on December 25, 1949, to Yosef and Hadassah Aloni. Her father came from Poland and worked as a carpenter, and her mother was a nurse. She grew up with her parents and grandparents in a lone house on a hill in Givatayim.

She studied education at the Kibbutzim Seminar. She worked for a short time as a primary school teacher.

In 1968 she joined the Nahal band of the IDF and became its main soloist. During her service she also sang with an early lineup of Kaveret.

After her release she sang the theme songs of the TV series "Hedva and Shlomik." She was a member of the rock band Aharit Hayamim and acted in films and TV series. She was the first performer of "Shir Lashalom" and sang it at the rally in November 1995 where Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was murdered.

She lived in Germany from 1999 to 2002. From 2003 she performed in the street at Carmel Market in Tel Aviv, at first as a protest against cuts to culture funding. In 2021 her leg was amputated after an infection, and she later received free housing in Ramat Ef'al.
