In 1926 he moved to Mandate Palestine and worked at Bikur Holim Hospital in Jerusalem. In 1927 he went to the United States for further training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. On his return he worked at Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus.

After Mount Scopus was cut off, his department moved to temporary facilities and in 1961 to Ein Kerem. He was the personal physician of Israeli leaders and served as dean of the Hebrew University medical school from 1958 to 1961. His research focused on blood diseases, and in 1980 he headed a committee on dental care in Israel.
