Noam Shuster-Eliassi was born in 1987 in Jerusalem
Shuster-Eliassi was born in Jerusalem in 1987. Her mother was born in Iran, and her father's parents were Holocaust survivors from Romania. From age 7 she grew up in Neve Shalom, a village where Jews and Palestinians live together, and she learned Arabic there.
She did national service instead of serving in the IDF, then studied for a year at the New York Film Academy. She later attended Brandeis University on a scholarship and graduated in 2011. Through an internship with WE ACT, she went to Rwanda to help women get medical care.
In her early twenties she became a co-director at Interpeace, running a program in Israel that brought excluded groups into talks about peace with Palestinians. The program closed in 2017. At an ROI Community event in Jerusalem she performed stand-up and decided to make comedy part of her activism.
In 2019 she was a fellow at Harvard Divinity School, where she developed her one-woman show. In January 2022 her satirical Arabic song "Dubai, Dubai" on Makan 33, about the Abraham Accords, drew wide attention in Arab media. The 2025 documentary Coexistence, My Ass!, directed by Amber Fares, follows her work and won a special jury award at Sundance.
