Sharon Kantor was born in 2003 in Avihayil

Sharon Kantor was born on 28 January 2003 and grew up in moshav Avihayil. Her father Steven came to Israel from South Africa, was the Israeli national squash champion and chaired the Israel Squash Association. She is the middle child of 5 siblings.

She studied at Ramot Yam High School in Michmoret. She served in the IDF at the Haifa base with the status of an excelling athlete.

She started training at the Michmoret Emek Hefer Sailing Club and is coached by Shahar Tzuberi. In 2018 she won the European Under-17 Techno Championship. In 2023 she took silver at the iQFoil European Championships and gold at the pre-Olympic event in Marseille.

In February 2024 she won the iQFoil World Championships in Lanzarote and was chosen to represent Israel in Paris. At the 2024 Olympics she won silver, becoming Israel's first female Olympic medalist in sailing. In December 2024 the Olympic Committee of Israel named her athlete of the year.
