Pick was born Henryk Pick in Wrocław, Poland, to Jewish parents Paulina and Borys Pick, who had survived the Holocaust. His grandfather ran a music school and his uncle was a music professor. He began studying classical music at age 5, and the family immigrated to Israel in 1957.
In Israel he continued his music studies at the Ramat Gan conservatory and went to high school at the Technikum in Givatayim. At 15 he was already playing and singing in rock bands. He was released from the IDF after a short time, following his father's death from cancer.
He became known in 1970 in the lead role of Claude in the Israeli production of the musical Hair. Through the 1970s he released albums and hits, and Kol Israel named him male singer of the year from 1977 to 1980. He competed 7 times in the Israeli Eurovision preselection without winning.
He composed "Diva" with lyricist Yoav Ginai for Dana International, which won Eurovision in 1998, and wrote entries for other countries too. In 2002 Habima staged the musical Mary Lou based on his songs. From 2005 to 2009 he was a judge on the TV show Kokhav Nolad.
He was married to songwriter Mirit Shem-Or, and they had a son and two daughters, Sharona and Daniella. In 2018 he suffered a stroke on a flight and went through long rehabilitation. He died in 2022.
