Tamir Yadai

Tamir Yadai was born in 1969 in Israel

Tamir Yadai was born on 16 December 1969. He grew up in the Shikun Aliya neighborhood of Kfar Saba, in a family of Yemenite origin.

He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and Middle East studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He also holds a master's degree in national security from the National Security College and a master's degree in business administration from the Peres Academic Center.

He joined the IDF in 1988 and served in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade, where he later commanded a platoon and a company. He commanded the 13th Battalion and was wounded in a clash near Hebron. He then led the Egoz Unit in Operation Defensive Shield and later commanded the Golani Brigade in the Second Lebanon War.

As a general he commanded the Edom Division, the Judea and Samaria Division, the Home Front Command and the Central Command. In October 2021 he became commander of the Ground Forces and served during the Swords of Iron War. On 6 March 2025 he became Deputy Chief of the General Staff.

Yadai is a relative of the singer Idan Raichel. He is married and has 3 children.
