Yaron Herman was born in 1981 in Tel Aviv

Yaron Herman was born in Tel Aviv in 1981. In high school he played basketball and was a point guard on Israel's cadet national team. An injury forced him to stop playing at 16, and he turned to the piano.

He studied piano with the teacher Ofer Bryer. At 19 he flew to Boston, planning to study at Berklee College of Music or the New England Conservatory, but he decided to return to Israel.

His flight home stopped in Paris, where he played at a jazz club and met musicians who urged him to stay. He has lived in Paris since then. His first album, Takes 2 to Know 1, made with Sylvain Ghio, came out when he was 21.

He won the Trophées du Sunside contest on Radio France in 2002 and the Victoires du Jazz award in 2008. He has performed in Israel, playing jazz arrangements of old Israeli songs. He released a joint album with Adam Baldych in 2014 and recorded a live duet with Chick Corea in 2018.
