Zvika Greengold was born in 1952 in Lohamei HaGeta'ot

Zvi "Zvika" Greengold was born on 10 February 1952 on Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot. The kibbutz was founded by Holocaust survivors, and his parents were among its founders.

He served as a soldier and officer in Battalion 74 of the 188th Brigade. When the Yom Kippur War began on 6 October 1973, he was on leave at home. He made his way to Nafekh and took command of an improvised tank unit known on the radio as Zvika Force.

His force, often only 1 or 2 tanks, fought Syrian armor through the night and helped hold Nafekh. He was wounded and later returned to his brigade. Some later disputed his account, while the Chief of Staff ruled the facts should not be challenged.

After the war he worked in the kibbutz fish ponds and earned a bachelor's degree in economics and management from Ruppin Academic Center. He held management roles at Tivall and other companies, and in 1998 became director general of the Haifa oil refineries. In 2001 he opened a consulting business.

In 2007 he ran for head of the Misgav Regional Council and finished third. In 2008 he became head of the municipality of Ofakim. In 2016 he bought the Seslov winery with partners.
