A man who was struck by a vehicle during a fight in Kafr Qara, an Arab town in northern Israel, has died of his injuries, and the incident is being treated as a suspected murder. Israeli news site Ynet reported that the fight ended with the man being run over, that he was taken to hospital where his death was declared, and that the background to the incident is criminal.
The first report came from Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical and ambulance service. According to the MDA spokesperson, its 101 emergency call centre in the Sharon region received a report at 19:40 of a pedestrian who had apparently been hit by a car in Kafr Qara. Paramedics and medics treated a 42-year-old man with multi-system trauma and took him to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in serious condition.
Who the victim was
The reports agree that the man was married with three children, but they give his name and age differently. Ynet identified him as Mohsen Ghazlin, aged 43, and its news alerts channel later described him as a father of three. Israeli broadcaster N12, in a report by correspondent Or Ravid, named him as Muhammad Suleiman Ghazail, aged 42, and said he was married and a father of three. The age given by N12 matches the one in the Magen David Adom statement. The difference in spelling may reflect transliteration from Arabic through Hebrew, but the reports themselves do not explain it, and this article does not resolve it.
The reports also differ on when his death was declared. Ynet's alerts channel reported his death in the evening, while N12 said his death was declared during the night.
Where Kafr Qara is
Kafr Qara is an Arab town in the Wadi Ara area of northern Israel, close to the city of Hadera. Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, where the victim was taken, is the main hospital in Hadera and serves the surrounding region, including the Arab towns of Wadi Ara. Magen David Adom divides its operations into regions, and calls from this area are handled by its Sharon region dispatch centre. The number 101 is Israel's emergency number for medical services.

Violence in Arab communities
Ynet placed the killing in the context of a wider wave of deadly violence in Israel's Arab community, reporting that 187 people from Arab society have been murdered since the start of the year. Arab citizens make up roughly a fifth of Israel's population. Killings in Arab towns, many linked to criminal organisations, disputes between families and illegal weapons, have become a persistent issue in Israeli public life, and Arab community leaders have long criticised what they describe as insufficient policing and low rates of solved cases.
Ynet's description of the background as criminal is a common classification in Israeli reporting. It generally distinguishes such incidents from those treated as nationalistic or terror-related, and it does not by itself indicate who was involved or why.
What the reports describe
The initial Magen David Adom statement described the incident only as a pedestrian apparently hit by a vehicle, without mentioning a fight. Ynet and N12, reporting later, both said the man was run over in the course of a brawl. Neither outlet described how the fight began, how many people took part, or whether the vehicle was driven at the man deliberately.
What the reports do not say
- None of the reports mentions any arrests, suspects or the identity of the driver.
- The reports do not include any statement from the Israel Police about the investigation, and the suspicion of murder is attributed to the news outlets' reporting rather than to an official police statement.
- The cause of the fight and any connection between the people involved are not described.
- The reports do not explain the differences in the victim's name and age, or settle the exact time his death was declared.
- It is not stated whether anyone else was hurt during the brawl.
