Three people were wounded, one of them seriously, in a shooting in the southern Israeli city of Rahat on Monday evening. According to Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service, its Negev regional dispatch centre received a call at 17:11 about people hurt in a violent incident who had been brought to a local clinic in the city. Its medics and paramedics treated the three and transferred them to Soroka Medical Center.
The service said a 23-year-old man was in serious condition with a penetrating injury, and that two others, aged 26 and 23, were in moderate condition, also with penetrating injuries. News.co.il reported that police had opened an investigation and were looking into whether the shooting stemmed from a criminal feud between families in the city.
Who reported what
Three Hebrew-language outlets carried the event within minutes of each other. An alert from Ynet, the news site of the Yedioth Ahronoth group, was the earliest, describing one person seriously hurt and two moderately hurt in a shooting in the Negev, without naming the town. News.co.il named Rahat and said three people had been hurt by gunfire. Magen David Adom gave the most detail on the casualties, including their ages and the time of the first call.
The accounts agree on the core facts: three people wounded, one seriously and two moderately, all taken to hospital. They differ on some points. Magen David Adom described a violent incident and penetrating injuries, and did not itself use the word shooting. It also said the wounded were brought to a local clinic, where its crews met them, while News.co.il wrote that its teams were called to the scene. The police line about a family dispute appears only in the News.co.il report.
Rahat and the Negev
Rahat is a city in the Negev, the arid region that covers much of southern Israel. It is the largest Bedouin city in the country. The Bedouin are Arab citizens of Israel, many of whom live in towns and villages across the northern Negev.

The wounded were taken to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, the main hospital serving the south of the country and the usual destination for serious trauma cases from Rahat and surrounding communities.
Magen David Adom and Israeli casualty terms
Magen David Adom, often shortened to MDA, is Israel's national ambulance and emergency medical service and the country's member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The public reaches it by dialling 101, and its calls are handled by regional dispatch centres, in this case the Negev region.

Israeli emergency reports grade casualties on a fixed scale. "Serious" generally indicates injuries that may be life-threatening. "Moderate" indicates significant injuries that are not, at the time of the report, considered a danger to life. A "penetrating injury" is the medical term MDA uses for wounds in which an object has entered the body; it covers gunshot and stab wounds alike, which is why MDA statements often do not specify the weapon.
Feuds and violent crime
Suspected disputes between extended families, sometimes involving organised crime, are a recurring explanation offered by Israeli police after shootings in Arab and Bedouin communities, and violent crime in those communities has been a long-running concern for residents and for Arab public figures. At this stage the family-dispute suspicion in Rahat is described by News.co.il as something police are checking, not as a finding.
What the reports do not say
None of the reports name the wounded or give details of any suspects, and none mention arrests. Police have not, in the material available, issued their own statement; the investigation and the feud suspicion are reported only by News.co.il. It is not clear exactly where in Rahat the shooting took place, how the three reached the clinic, or whether all three were hit in the same incident. The reports also do not say what weapon was used beyond the description of a shooting, and there is no update on the condition of the wounded after their arrival at hospital.
