Election 2026

The results of the 27 October vote

An Israeli IBAN comes from three numbers, and this works it out from them.

Type the branch's number, up to three digits.

The account number stays on this device.

It follows the same rule as the Bank of Israel's IBAN simulator.

An Israeli IBAN has 23 characters, and most of them are numbers already on a cheque.

These are the questions people ask about an Israeli IBAN.

What is an IBAN in Israel?

An IBAN names one bank account for a transfer between countries. An Israeli one has 23 characters: IL, two check digits, three digits for the bank, three for the branch and thirteen for the account.

What if my account number is shorter than 13 digits?

Zeros go in front of it until it has 13 digits. The calculator on this page adds them.

Is an IBAN the same as a SWIFT code?

No. A SWIFT code names the bank, and an IBAN names one account in it. A transfer from abroad to Israel usually asks for both.

What are the two check digits for?

They are worked out from all the other digits, so a bank's system can tell when one number was typed wrongly and stop the transfer.
