A boutique hotel of 16 rooms built into the walls of Old Acre beside the Land Gate, in an Ottoman building that once housed army officers

Akkotel opened in 2007 in a renovated Ottoman building set into the walls of Old Acre, which its site says served as accommodation for the army's officers, next to the Land Gate and a short walk from the Old City's landmarks. Its 16 rooms, eight on each floor, keep the old stone arches and are furnished with handmade wooden beds and closets; they include single and double rooms, family rooms, suites and a room fitted for guests with disabilities. A lift runs to the rooms and to the roof, where a café on the walls looks over the Mediterranean, Haifa and Mount Carmel, and the hotel has a Mediterranean restaurant and a hall for family and business events. Its staff speak Arabic, Hebrew and English, and its site says many guests use it as a base for touring the north, from Nazareth to the Sea of Galilee.
