A bar and grill on Ha-Atzmaut Street in Ashdod's city centre, serving steaks, skewers, shrimp and fish with Belgian and German beers, every evening and from lunchtime at the weekend

Castle Bar is a bar and restaurant at 85 Ha-Atzmaut Street, in Rova HaKirya in the centre of Ashdod. Its TikTok account calls it a meat and seafood restaurant in Ashdod, and Ashdod's tourism site says it opened in 2011, counts it among the city's oldest and best meat restaurants, and says it specialises in large cuts of meat, seafood and fish beside a wide range of draught beers. Its menu, in Hebrew and in English on its website, opens with house bread and dips, fries topped with Bulgarian cheese, halloumi bites, a Castle salad with fried halloumi and pecans and a Castle aubergine on tahini; then come seafood pasta, a fried mix of calamari and shrimp, shrimp cooked seven ways, baked salmon and sea bream, and from the grill aged entrecôte of 350 or 700 grams, the chef's entrecôte skewers, lamb chops, sausages and a 220-gram burger. The bar pours a changing tap and beers from Belgium, Germany, Austria, Ireland and the Czech Republic, Kasteel Rouge and Barbar honey beer among them, with cocktails, arak and a shelf of whiskies and cognacs. By its Google listing it opens at 17:00 from Sunday to Thursday and at 13:00 on Friday and Saturday, and stays open until midnight or 01:00. It takes table bookings by phone, and the tourism site lists seats outside. In a culinary tour of Ashdod that ynet published in November 2016, Lin Levi wrote that its local hit was a deal of two entrecôte cuts of 700 grams each for 120 shekels, that it offered a fair choice of seafood and a huge choice of beers in bottles and on tap, and that the fries with Bulgarian cheese were a must.
